Making Appointments with Our Firm

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?

BOOK APPOINTMENT NOW

We offer two types of appointments:

Debt-Relief Strategy Appointment. For most people who need a sense of direction, we suggest an appointment to map out a debt relief strategy with Mr. Grainger. For a Strategy appointment, we suggest bringing the following:

  • Intake Form. You may download this Intake Form to print and complete in advance or you may simply arrive 10 minutes early to fill it out in our office.
  • Documents of Concern to You. If you have received court papers, a foreclosure notice or other documents that concern you, bring those to your appointment as well.

Bankruptcy Appointment. Some people who contact us are in a crisis and in urgent need for protection. If you are reasonably certain you have an urgent need for a bankruptcy, then let us know when you make the appointment so that we can arrange an additional time for you to work with our staff after you meet Mr. Grainger. This is particularly helpful when facing a lawsuit, a foreclosure, a garnishment or a repossession. We suggest you bring the following so we can meet your needs more quickly:

  • Intake Form. Print and complete the Intake Form as best you can or at least try to arrive about 10 minutes early in order to complete the form at our office.
  • Pay Stubs. Six Months of pay stubs for you and your spouse (if married living together) regardless of whether your intention is to only file bankruptcy for one spouse. If either has not been employed in the last six months, the pay stubs would not apply for that person. Most people don’t save these and have to obtain them either online or from their payroll department.
  • Tax Returns. The two most recent tax returns which you were required to file. In order to have a successful bankruptcy case, you must have filed all of your tax returns for the last four years. We will need copies of your last two. No need to worry if you were not required to file a tax return for a year in which you did not make enough money or where living on Social Security Retirement or Disability. If you cannot find returns which you filed, we will obtain a tax transcript on your behalf.
  • Filing Fee. Although the appointment is free, you may wish to bring at least $50.00 if you have an urgent need to file a Chapter 13 case so we will have the minimum funds to apply to your filing fee.
  • Documents of Concern to You. If you have received court papers, a foreclosure notice or other documents that concern you, bring those to your appointment as well.

OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT APPOINTMENTS WITH OUR FIRM:

Business Hours. Our normal business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

If you change your mind about coming or need to reschedule, there is no problem. Just please let us know as soon as you can so we can make that time available to someone else.

Appointment by telephone not practical. A telephone appointment is not practical due to the amount of information which needs to be exchanged in both directions in order to provide competent legal advice.

Web conferencing. Mr. Grainger schedules time to meet in-person with clients at our Montgomery, Prattville and Troy offices. If those times are not convenient, we may schedule a more convenient time for you to meet with Mr. Grainger via web conferencing between our three offices. For example, if someone in Troy is off from work on Monday and wants to meet while Mr. Grainger is located in the Montgomery office, that person can come to the Troy office and meet Mr. Grainger by a web conferencing connection. While such a meeting is simple (our staff arranges the connection for you), it is effective and is still face-to-face, there is still nothing like the personal touch of a hand-shake which we all prefer. Our firm uses this technology as an option for our clients’ convenience and our clients seem to like it.

After-Hours appointments. These are limited due to our need to spend time with our families but may be arranged on a case-by-case basis.

No Sales Appointments. We do not respond to companies making sales appointments for goods or services. Our policy is to not do business with companies or firms who solicit our business.
