Alabama man faces drug trafficking charge

A 28-year-old man from Fultondale has been arrested in Baldwin County as of Sept. 30, following an investigation into alleged drug activity. Alabama police arrested the man and another woman for alleged drug possession as well as trafficking. Given the severity of these drug crimes, the man is being held on no bond, pending an initial bond hearing.  

What reportedly happened?  

According to the report, on the night of Sept. 29, police received reports of a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot of a condominium complex on West Beach. Officers questioned the 28-year-old male driver and his female passenger, who has not been publicly identified by police. The report states that the course of the investigation revealed the man to be in possession of some 36 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine, while the woman was allegedly in possession of a small amount of the same substance. 

Given 28 grams is considered trafficking weight in Alabama, the man was arrested and charged with drug trafficking. His passenger was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. The report did not indicate whether a search was conducted, or if a warrant was obtained for such a search. The man remains in custody, and it is unknown whether the woman was released at this time.
